Alix Masewicz is a young woman who has autism and Down’s Syndrome. She does not speak, read or write, and she has limited communication. Throughout her life she has had many struggles to be heard and understood. But she has always had art. Since a toddler she began experimenting with paints. She preferred vibrant colors, primarily painting stripes.
Gradually she shifted to different shapes and forms, but she has always kept her love of vibrant color combinations. For the past six years Alix has shifted to watercolor markers and crayons in her current style.
Alix takes great pride and enjoyment from her creations and the compliments she has received. She will spend several hours at a time, several days a week with art. It has become a means of a voice for her to share herself with others.
